The memorial of Point Alpha

The memorial of Point Alpha is situated at the border of Hessian and Thuringia in the landscape called „Rhön“.
With its authentic buildings and facilities this historical place reminds of the separation of Germany and the Cold War, as well.
The whole area demonstrates the fight for power of two political systems. For more than four decades members from the NATO, as well as from the so-called „Warschauer Pakt“, were fighting against each other right here.
The memorial of Point Alpha includes an entire area of 30.000 square meters at the German Federal State of Hessian and 40.000 square meters in Thuringia.
From the former tower of the U.S. military camps you enjoy a wonderful view above the whole area. It also welcomes you to extended walks and excursions along its 17 km long path.
