Die
Krayenburg
The monastery Hersfeld mentioned Tiefenort, located between the Rennsteig and the mountains of the Rhoen, in 1137.
In this small place and its districts - Dönges, Oberrohn, Hämbach and Weißendiez-, guests will find a friendly and countrified atmosphere, cultivated accommodations and of course the Thuringian hospitality.
Hiking trails invites you to a walk through the forest and may be to the “Krayenburg” with its ruin or to the “Zeppelinstein”, a place where a zeppelin made a forced landing.
The river Werra (former Wisaha) is the natural border of the Rhoen and the Thuringian forest. The Krayenberg with its look out is on of the distinctive points in the valley of the river Werra. Furthermore you will find the ruins of the Krayenburg, which temporary provide as a basis for robber- knights.
Today the Krayenburg is a hotel with an excellent Thuringian kitchen.
